Herb – Black Horehound – Ballota nigra
Black horehound is a plant. Given in the form of tea, it promotes menses, soothes coughs, bronchitis and asthma and acts as a mucus secretion. It blooms in the Northern Hemisphere from May to August. It can grow up to 3 feet in height.
Calming nerves, panic attacks, low- spiritedness, fainting, convulsions, migraine, irritable coughs, bronchitis, pneumonia, asthma, tuberculosis. Stimulates loss of appetite, cures sour belching, intestinal parasites, nausea and vomiting due to nervous system rather than stomach, tachycardia, hypertension, menstruation. It eases labor pains, treats gout, boils and motion sickness. This herb is helpful for asthma, bronchitis and coughs.
Leaves used fresh or dried. Can be chewed in mouth in a fresh or dry state and swallow juices. Dry leaves used for tea.
